Established in 1990, the Wisconsin Geographic Alliance (WIGA) is a college-based, statewide partnership of college professors and K-12 teachers. WIGA has focused its efforts on providing a variety of first-rate professional development opportunities for teachers, encouraging organizational stability and growth, and promoting geographic awareness and literacy.

WIGA is the state leader in providing high quality professional development, resources, and support to prepare a geographically literate population. Part of National Geographic's nationwide network of state Geographic Alliances, WIGA envisions a geographically literate population that is prepared to care for the natural environment, thrive in a global economy, and value cultural connections. WIGA’s mission is to be an organization designed to facilitate geographic literacy in all content areas.
