The Ohio Geographic Alliance has been in existence for twenty five years. The Ohio State University has served as the host institution for the Alliance throughout its history, supporting the Alliance through office space, facilities, reassigned time for the coordinator, and administrative support for the Alliance budget and activities.

The Ohio Geographic Alliance is a partnership of university faculty and K-12 educators motivated to improve the quality of geographic education in the state of Ohio. Its efforts in that direction have centered on the delivery of high quality workshops to teachers throughout the state; shaping the state social studies curriculum to accurate reflect current professional geography standards and practices; providing professional development opportunities for teachers through support of participation in national workshops and conferences focused on geographic education; and ensuring that geography is represented in pre-service training of aspiring teachers.
