The North Dakota Geographic Alliance (NDGA) was founded in 1987 and became a member of the National Geographic Society Alliance Network in 1991. NDGA was housed at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks until 1995 when it was moved to Minot State University.

NDGA has provided a variety of professional development programs for teachers and geography education outreach activities for twenty years, with over 2,000 teachers participating in Alliance activities provided in all regions of the state. We partner with several other agencies in the state to integrate curriculum content as well as to increase funding potential. NDGA is the premier leader of standards-based geography and social studies professional development in the state.
