The Kentucky Geographic Alliance (KGA), under the umbrella of the National Geographic Society, was established in 1987 as a partnership of K-12 teachers and academic geographers dedicated to improving the geographic literacy of Kentucky school children.

The mission of the Kentucky Geographic Alliance is an organizing force in preparing teachers and students to meet the challenging geographic knowledge and skills needed to work and live productively in today's society.
