The Geographic Alliance In Nevada was founded in 1989 to improve geographic education in our state by forming a partnership between university geographers and K-12 teachers. The Geographic Alliance In Nevada envisions a future in which the citizens of our state have attained and can employ a level of geographic literacy necessary to reach their full potential and to balance the economic, environmental, and political challenges that face all Americans locally, nationally, and globally.

Our mission is to promote and increase geographic literacy through active advocacy, community outreach, and innovative professional development programs for K-12 educators that demonstrate the power of geography to enhance both the education and the quality of life of all Nevada citizens.
